The Christmas lights are going up, the market stalls are filling, and the sound of carols is drifting through the centre. That special time of year has arrived, and The Victoria Centre is ready to celebrate with a season of music, creativity, and community spirit.
From the big city switch-on to Santa visits and festive trails, there’s plenty to see, do, and enjoy right through the festive season.
Southend BID Christmas Lights Switch-On Day
Saturday 15th November
Festive Activities in The Victoria Centre: 10am–5pm
Switch-On: 6pm on the High Street
Throughout the day, The Victoria Centre will be alive with Artisan Christmas Market stalls and live festive performances, leading up to the grand light switch-on hosted by Southend City BID at 6pm on the High Street.
A full day of family fun and festive cheer to start the season right.
Festive Weekends to Remember
Every weekend in December brings something new, from live carols to crafty workshops, special guests, and plenty of surprises.
Saturday 6th December | 11am–3pm
Santa Meet & Greet (Free)
Santa Claus is coming to town… again! Pop by for a free photo opportunity and a chance for little ones to share their Christmas wishes.
Sunday 7th December | 12–3pm
Carols for Christmas + Random Acts of Kindness
Expect joyful music from local choirs and community groups. Keep an eye out for our Victoria Elves, who’ll be spreading festive kindness around the centre with small surprises for shoppers.
Saturday 13th December | 10am–4pm
Big Up Southend Christmas Special
Discover handmade treasures at the Artisan Market, and drop in for Adult Wreath-Making from 12–2pm, a creative way to make your own Christmas décor.
Sunday 14th December | 12–3pm
Carols for Christmas + Random Acts of Kindness (Elves Return!)
More festive harmonies and cheerful surprises to keep the Christmas spirit going strong.

Santa’s Secret Word Trail

Santa’s hidden some letters across The Victoria Centre, and he needs your help to find them! Hunt for clues in shop windows, uncover the letters, and piece together Santa’s Secret Word for a chance to win a festive prize.
A fun, free activity for families exploring the centre this Christmas.
